About the 2026 World Cup
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is the 23rd edition of the world's biggest football tournament. For the first time, it features 48 national teams (up from 32), playing 104 matches between June 11 and July 19, 2026.
It is co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico, marking the first time three countries have organised the World Cup together. Mexico becomes the first nation to host three World Cups (1970, 1986, 2026).
The opening match is Mexico vs South Africa on June 11 at Estadio Banorte (Azteca) in Mexico City. The Final is scheduled for July 19 at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford (NY/NJ).
